Specime Ridge
Specimen Ridge is elevated an outstanding 8,574 feet above sea level. It contains an 8.5 mile ridge along the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park. Specimen Ridge also seperates the Lamar Valley from Mirror Plateau, and it passes through Petrified Forest and over the Summit of Amethyst Mountain which has an elevation of 9,614 feet above sea level! The tallest, most recognizable peak in the Grand Tetons is 13,770 feet tall and is the second tallest in all of Wyoming! Specimen Ridge is located along the northest entrance road East of Tower Junction contains largest concetration of petrified trees in the world. Specimen Ridge didn't take its name until the 1860's!
